- My contribution
- Extending an open source project: new workflows, bilingual interface and experimental native control.

- macOS 14+ · Hardware checks on a MacBook Air M3 running macOS 27.2.
The starting point
A quiet tool for an everyday need.
A Mac is used differently at a desk, on the move or before a long period in storage. I extended OpenDente to make these situations easier to manage: keep everyday charging preferences, read the actual battery state and enable a temporary mode without losing those settings.
Settings that follow your day
Desk, Daily and Travel profiles, a one-off full charge and storage preparation at 50%: temporary modes preserve the everyday configuration.
An interface that belongs on Mac
French and English, light and dark appearance, percentage inside the battery icon and customizable measurements keep the essentials easy to read.
There when it is needed
Quiet login startup, configurable MagSafe signals, an offline guide and optional local diagnostics. No account or telemetry server added.
Inside the application
A small panel. Thoughtful controls.
Behind the interface
A native experience, from panel to system.
The SwiftUI interface stays separate from privileged operations. This edition adds an experimental native mechanism, settings restoration and recovery checks while preserving the original project’s architecture and history.
The SwiftUI application reads measurements and applies the user’s profiles and preferences.
A certificate-authenticated XPC connection delegates privileged operations to the local helper.
The helper uses the available SMC or native mechanism. A recovery journal and watchdog support settings restoration.

Current scope
Real checks, with compatibility still to expand.
Native control uses private Apple interfaces and remains experimental. Documented hardware checks cover a MacBook Air M3; they do not validate every Mac. A request can take several minutes and is not an immediate hardware cutoff. The application is built and signed locally; no notarized public installer is provided.

This edition is a fork of killerk3emstar/OpenDente. The original charging features and architecture come from that project; my additions extend this foundation and preserve its credits and history.
